I have an important question......does zinc chloride damage "normal" skin? I know someone who spread a black salve in a large area of his face. Now there is a large hole in his face (eye is ruined). He plans to apply more. His doctor told him he has a tumor behind his eye and he (the lay person) is trying to pull it out with black salve. He thinks the zinc chloride will only be attracted to the cancerous cells. What is correct?

Thanks, Chris

I do not think zinc chloride has much capacity to discriminate healthy from malignant tissues. Depending on scar tissue and pigmentation and some other variables, it might be more readily absorbed by certain tumors, but the healthy tissue is definitely not impervious to this product.

Zinc chloride is made by pouring hydrochloric acid over zinc. It is extremely caustic and will not merely damage skin but result in possibly extreme pain and scarring. However, it can be washed off with water when accidental contact is made outside the intended treatment area. Just keep in mind that it is caustic and needs to be used sanely and carefully.

I did not see the Zinc Chloride listed in the
ingredients in Can-X Black Salve. Does Can-X
contain Zinc Chloride?

I don't know, ask them. Some people use euphemisms such as "mineral salts" or "other ingredients." Just ask them straight out.

Ingrid your web site and service is awesome. I have come to an impasse in my personal fight against traditional methods of skin cancer treatment. I was 33 when I was first diagnosed with actinic keratosis. The Dermatologist looked at me under a box light and sighed saying I was in for lots of future problems with my skin. He burned off the problematic areas at the time with liquid nitrogen and assured me I would be back many more times over the years. Of course he was right. The same areas he burned with the nitrogen have 12 years later developed into BCC's. I had one on my forehead @ the size of a dime surgically removed about 3 years ago and it has returned. Oh the joy! I read a post where Dr. Whitaker talked about Skin Answer, which is another alternative, and mentioned he successfully killed a BCC tumor on his own temple with a concoction of vitamin C, retin -A and DMSO. I have been using a similar concoction of just DMSO and crystal vitamin C with some success however some of these BCC just won't go. I am ready to try the bloodroot-zinc chloride route but am wary. I have spoke to several "regular people" (I believe they were truly sincere actual users of these products) around the world who were listed in testimonials with various products including some you recommend. All of them speak of these salves as a temporarily painful but long-term very successful way of treating skin cancers. Some of their stories are quite horrendous but the alternatives the medical doctors have to offer seem even more so. My question is this. Do you feel that the zinc Chloride is necessary or will the bloodroot alone kill these tumors? I have been able to obtain bloodroot but zinc chloride is harder to come by. I plan on making a mixture of bee's wax, zinc chloride and Bloodroot but wouldn't mind trying it with out the zinc chloride and perhaps replace that part of the mixture with DMSO (a great carrier) if I thought I would get positive results. What are your thoughts on the Zinc Chloride part of this skin cancer fighting solution?

In the materials I read, it was claimed that zinc chloride discriminates somewhat more between healthy and malignant tissue. When injected into animals, the malignant tissue absorbed it better. This was what Frederic Mohs, MD, found when he developed his fixative paste used in his microsurgery technique.

Before Hoxsey and Mohs, Native Americans used bloodroot as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with other herbs. It is an escharotic in its own right.

You will spare yourself rediscovering the wheel by reading my book. This said, you might not do this. I would suggest you not put beeswax into your paste because it will inhibit penetration.

Ingrid hello and a smile to you. I,we just recieved your cancer Book and am so enjoying. I have been injesting a Black salve product for 14 months now. 3 times daily monitored by 4-5 month interval MRI scans and my neuro sugeon. Having been advised 14 months ago to go the Chemo and radiation route I opted not to. I did have surgery 2 years ago with almost a quarter of my brain removed. I am 46 years strong healthy and in good mental health. Would share more if you would like. Mostly wanted to thank you for your work and choosen path in life. You book has filled in many gaps about the black salve. Most importantly it has and is working for me. My doctor is amazed. Love in all directions Hugs to you. Jim cannon

How sweet! Messages such as this certainly make my day!

If your MRIs are clear or clearing, then you might be breaking ground in answering the question as to whether or not the herbs in the black salve can pass the blood-brain barrier. I know many who applied the salve to the forehead or skull or soft tissue near the bone, but no one who has taken the salve internally for tumors in the brain. Please keep all of us informed, but most of all, be well!

God bless!

Hello again, Jim here. Injesting the black salve is a major factor in my brain tumor control but there are other elements I would share. Much love from others, positive thinking, practicing a healing technique to mention some. For 17 years I've been practicing Reiki. Hands on work to stimulate healing of ones own self and others. I feel strongly about our own abilities to heal ourselves and this may be part of the brain barrier work. Lots of sunshine, vitamins, good food and immune enhancers, all things being part of the whole. Hugs to you and know that a big smile comes from me as well. Jim

Do you know of any salve that will help remove scar tissue. I was scalded by some hot water as a child. Trying to avoid surgery. Someone told me calendula helps. Is this true. Thanks for any advice.

Homeopathic calendula was often cited in historic literature as causing old injuries to open up and reheal correctly. I personally have never tried it so I can only repeat this for what it is worth. Many who visit this board are hugely experimental so I hope than when someone does discover something that would help others that those people will share their success stories . . . so let us know what you do and what works.

A group of practitioners spent hours discussing this and another promising therapy was very thin acupuncture needles threaded through the scar tissue. This was said to work well. I studied for a while with the developer of homeopuncture, a combination of homeopathy and acupuncture in which the needles are dipped in mother tinctures before being inserted. I don't practice this method or acupuncture, but I always celebrate creativity . . . and wouldn't it be obvious that this could enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.

Dear Ingrid:

Thanks for being a sane voice in the scary world of cancer treatments.

I'm afraid that I may have gotten in a little over my head. I had an "odd" mole on my left ribs a few inched below my breast that itched and sometimes bled a tiny bit. The area around it for a few inches often itched and just felt odd - I was constantly aware of it. I rather impetuously started using some black salve that a friend had made 11 days ago, and now have a sore about the size of a quarter around the area. I stopped the salve yesterday, uncertain of whether I had "finished" the process. The area didn't seem to be getting any bigger and had distinct edges with peeling away of the yellow, white necrotic skin around the edges from the inside. It did not look like a small continent cracking away, as some of the pictures and testimonials in your book seem to say should happen. The whole area is ringed for an inch or so by red (unblistered) hot painful skin. I've been using homeopathic Apis and a chinese liniment around the edges on unbroken skin and the pain is lessening.

I've read most of your book, but am still confused. I know that you stress not to abort the process, and I do hope that I'm not. Also, I know that there are various approaches to dressing the wound after one stops using the eschariotic salve. Pattison woudl use nothing at all, you said in the book, for a few days to allow the separation to take place because he felt that the moistening salves might interfere with the cracking away of the eschar from healthy skin. The friend who gave me the salve and has used it on herself feels strongly that I should keep the area moist, and that the goldenseal turmeric I'm putting in my calendula salve are too drying.

I would like your thoughts on these things - do I need to keep going with the salve, or maybe even with a plain bloodroot salve until the eschar cracks away? (I think that the salve I've been using was too strong on the zinc chloride). And, if I can move on from the salve, moist or not moist?

I hope this isn't too long to post. Thanks.

Elizabeth,

The post isn't too long, but the questions are a little challenging.

Turmeric is drying but goldenseal gets fairly mucilaginous when it is mixed properly. Just stirring powders into a premixed calendula may or may not work quite as well as starting with the right proportions and blending them before curing them. I would think, you'd be adding powder, then oil, then powder, then oil . . .

This would prove your friend right, but you could try turmeric oleoresin which is easy to add to an ointment and liquid, thick but liquid.

As I suggested to someone else today, you can also try the German Kermesberro because it is a somewhat drawing salve with no escharotic effect at all. The main issue is hygiene. It's hard to prevent the accumulating of moisture. You want to keep the site clean, very clean . . . which in most instances suggests the need for something, ergo not quite Pattison.

Let me know how this goes and I wish you luck.

Thanks for your quick response to my questions of yesterday. I realize that there are no hard and fast answers, many methods, etc., but I am still quite anxious about whether or not my goal should be to use a salve that causes the eschar to crack away from the surrounding skin, or whether I should just keep the area clean and lubricated with some sort of salve and it will eventually crack away. I'm using hydrogen peroxide to clean the area and having absolutely no fizzing reaction, so there doesn't seem to be any infection, at least on the surface. The surrounding skin is, as I said, warm and red and painful. Is that normal? The whole thing looks like a volcano; the surrounding skin peaks up to a white rimmed edge and a dry crater of rings. There is a slightly raised area in the center of the crater. I've been using a homeopathic cream on the sorrounding skin in an attempt to keep the inflammation down (not on the sore itself).

If you are suggesting that I continue to use a drawinng salve until the eschar cracks away, I have access to a bloodroot salve that does not contain any zinc chloride - would that be appropriate? I am willing to use the German Kermesberro if you think that would be best, but I don't know where to get it. I've searched the website, but can't find it.

Thanks again - Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

We have the German Kermesberro in our store. It is also linked off the page devoted to the work of Dr. Christopher. It's a harmless and painless product. Bloodroot, even without zinc chloride, is totally unpredictable.

The inflammation is good. It is the reason the area is not infected. You have an open treatment site and enough immune response in that site to keep it from infecting. This seems to be the secret to the unanswerable questions that many have had about why the area does not infect.

If you let the area dry out, the eschar will detach sooner but it will not "enucleate" as perfectly. If you use another ointment, the process will slow down but less scar tissue will form and there is a greater probability that everything that needs to come out does come out. Why don't you like any of the formulas in my book? There are dozens of choices there.

There is one formula in my book with bloodroot, red clover, and blue flag. These are tinctures (two parts blue flag and one each of the others.) Let us know if this works. Very few people are reporting back, but those who have are getting results that are similar to the paste.

Hi Ingrid,
Thank you so much for your book. I want to be able to regulate the penetrating aspect of the zinc chloride, so I am looking to add it in later. My problem is finding a supplier for the zinc chloride without having to buy a 55 gallon drum. Any help? Thank you

Hello

A friend of mine took the Salve I made for her internally with the Zinc added and the only side affect she experienced was nausua. She added the zinc herself after I made the salve, she is happy with the results and feels it helped her with her condition, she did a 28 day run with the salve. As for the other questions you have I do not know, everyone is different, you may want to look into Vitamin B 17, apricot seeds there is a book called Why we are still dieing to know the truth, written by Philip day.
Very interesting.

God Bless

I think many people are looking at holistic medicine the same way they see conventional medicine, i.e., will the herb or compound destroy the tumor. In most cases, this is not precisely how the herbs work, which is also why many herbs with no known anti-cancer properties may nevertheless be helpful adjunctive measures.

In most cases, it is more useful to think of causes rather than symptoms. I think that cancer is usually a consequence of some other issue that has gone unaddressed. The easiest way to understand this is to look at radiation. We all know it causes mutations so even if it destroys cancer, it may also result in a new cancer, this regardless of how and why the exposure to radiation occurred. One may not want to destroy the tumor by using more radiation; one may want to reduce the risks by using herbs with a capacity to repair tissue or increase immune response to abnormal cells or strengthen supporting tissue so that it rejects unhealthy and hyperactive cells.

In other words, of the millions of plants out there, there is no doubt one or a combination of more than one with the correct action for each individual, but not enough people are studying this because they can't make big sums of money on formulas they can't patent. For this reason, the information is all traditional, anecdotal, and clinical, not "scientific."

So, my response to the post on May 6th is to ask more questions, including why the cancer developed, what life style factors might have contributed to the cancer, what protocols have been tried with which results, etc., etc., etc. Then, one can strategize. This said, I discourage people from offering pat answers on this bulletin board. I refrain from such as much as possible and I would like others to offer suggestions but not advice.

This said, we do not know if nausea is the only side effect of internal use of the bloodroot pastes. We know that most people do have nausea but we don't know if this is a reaction to bloodroot, whether it is related to die off, or whether there are adverse effects associated with its use. This said, we do know that metastasis is serious so there are arguments in favor of trying something that is available but not well understood.

As for laetrile, the experts on laetrile, the Contreras family of doctors in Tijuana, maintain that 3% of patients treated with laetrile are cured by it and 12% benefit in other less tangible ways. They give it to everyone because there is more to gain than to lose.

I know medical doctors in Tijuana who, for similar reasons, give chaparral to everyone, not because everyone responds but because those who do respond have such good results that it justifies offering it to everyone in hopes that they, too, might have such results.

There are pros and cons to these approaches. If the patients are monitored for responses, the protocols can be adjusted when the desired improvement is not seen. Persevering when the results are lacking is usually a mistake because loyalty to something that isn't working is a waste of time. These are some of the reasons I urge people to find practitioners willing to monitor responses.

Speaking from the inside, let me just say that there are literally hundreds of recipes/formulas in my book. There are 100 in the appendix, but there are countless others interspersed throughout the book. No one should believe that anything cures everyone or even that it is good for everyone. What I hope will be seen is that if one thing does not work, there are other options, lots and lots of them.

Herbs are very different from drugs. Yes, a few have cytotoxic properties, but many have no such properties at all and they are perfectly safe in large amounts. They may correct for a deficiency condition, repair a metabolic issue, aid detoxification, reduce stress to the body, boost immunity, regenerate damaged tissue, improve circulation and oxygenation, etc., etc., etc. Together, all these properties may greatly enhance health, but individually, none of them may be particularly anti-cancer in action.

God bless!

People have used the salve on the penis, but it is obviously very painful and likely to scar the organ.

There is an industrial grade and a medical grade. You want one with the purity of the medical grade. It usually looks like a salt, not exactly a powder.

Hello Ingrd,Ive been doing a search for a particular product called "Skin Answer". I was at my local herb shop and came accross the information, but the herb shop said they couldnt get it any more probably because it is a true cure for skin cancer! I was wondering if you know or have heard anything about this product? Any information would be appreciated. THanks
