My pride and joy, Codi, was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. He has a tumor 22 cm around his leg, right at the joint of what I consider to be his ankle. Codi's holistic vet actually suggested I bring him to a conventional oncologist and have his leg amputated. I refuse. I switched vets and now Codi is seeing Dr. Wen, a vet who practices Chinese Medicine. Codi is taking a combination of about 15 herbs in a mixture plus I have recently started giving Codi flaxseed oil and cottage cheese in a 1:4 ratio. Codi is walking on 3 legs as of the past week or so, but otherwise is as healthy as a horse!!! Is there anything I can put on this tumor externally? Some facts you should know: The tumor first appeared in May and has grown to 22cm since then. Codi is a mix of lab, pit bull and german shep. Codi weighs 90lbs. I am open to trying whatever you suggest.
Please help Codi and me if you can.

Lisa Ann,

These questions are very difficult because it's hard to know what is really going on and what Codi would respond to best. Your Chinese vet would surely be familiar with Artemisia annua (Qing hao in Chinese) and all the herbs that might cut off the supply of nutrition to the tumor. My sense is that an external application of something a bit more modest than an escharotic may be effective on a short-term basis. Sometimes a poultice of very bitter, detoxifying herbs, such as goldenseal, coptis, aloe, slippery elm, marshmallow root, or even poke root relieve a lot of the inflammation in 24 hours. I have never been sure exactly how or why this works, but I suspect it stops fermentation. This changes the baseline and the condition often looks easier to manage after trying this.

I wish you success.
