I just got a dog from the bound she is about 7 years old. And she will not go to the restroom even if you take her out side every 5min. But when she is slepping she wets her bed. What should i do?

Oh, this is really not a question for this bulletin board, but I am sympathetic with the problem since I am an animal lover.

My guess is that your new friend has been through a really traumatic experience. Dogs are so loyal and losing a connection, even if a less than perfect one, at her age must be difficult. It's also quite normal for dogs to regress when they are adopted as mature beings. You therefore need to be playful with her, like she is a puppy. She no doubt knows that it is unacceptable to do what she is doing in the house so you have to set forth the rules, patiently. I adopted two dogs and then traveled with them. Oh, I can't tell you what long walks we had late at night, but the bottom line was "no one calls it a night until you have done what you need to do before the lights go out." It doesn't smell right here or this isn't okay there, but she needs to be praised for working with you on this matter. When she is adjusted to her new life and she feels safe, she will probably be happier and less challenging to you. Maybe you just need to go for a ride in the car until you find a place that she likes, then stop to tell her how pleased you are. She'll learn. It sounds to me like she really is having adjustment issues.

Good luck.
