Bleeding can be very dangerous, especially if caused by a malignant growth that threatens to strange an artery. Patients should be aware of the risks of self-treatment and have contingency plans in place when taking responsibility for their own treatment.

Yunnan Paiyao:

Do not lose the tiny pill that is usually wadded up in the cotton at the top of the bottle. It can be used internally. The powder can be applied externally or made into a tea for internal consumption.

While in an oncologist surgeon's office, I told him I had been using both cayenne and tumeric for bleeding of ulcerated tumor. He sounded intrigued and informed me that ipecac would work as well. I wasn't certain if he meant the syrup or the homeopathic tablets taken internally.Mine is no longer bleeding, by the way.

I'm glad to hear it is not bleeding.

Dr. Mohs used his bloodroot fixative paste to stop the bleeding.

I generally recommend Yunnan Paiyao because there is no pain whatsoever. However, sometimes when people right me, the blood they are describing sounds so morbid that losing some might not be so bad . . . so long as adequate blood boosting tonics and diets are used so that the body can build healthy new blood.

This question requires a proper medical consultation with someone qualified to guide you on all fronts: diet, herbs and supplements, life style, and so on.

Good luck!

Dear Ingrid: Thanks for an incredible research and compilation effort on the cancer salves! Because I'm now taking care of an 85 year old relative with recently metastasized bladder cancer, I could justify buying your book, which I have long coveted. For some time, I have been aware of the salve process through my well-thumbed Dr. Christopher (School of Natural Healing). Some years ago I used his red clover salve to cure a malignant melanoma, so I'm a believer. Also, in reviewing your information, I have several thoughts, which I will "snail mail" to you when I'm more organized. For now, I have a couple of questions you may be kind enough to consider:
(1)Availability of either the violet salve or bulk violet blossoms/leaves? Availability of chapparal in bulk? (2) What might you be aware of vis-a-vis any drug interactions with: (a) diuretics such as lasix; (b) anticoagulants such as coumadin, with internal remedies (cancer tonics). (3) I'm using my friend's web site and we look forward to any comments/additions you may have. Thanks again for your pioneering work. Sincerely, Kate Eyre PO Box 400325 Cambridge, MA 02140-0004.

Kate,

I have sometimes bought a few jars of the violet salve when I am in Europe. I don't know how effective it is. People like it very much because it smells nice and feels good. Whether or not it resolves masses is another question. Generally, I suggest that people who have had success with one method continue with the one they know and trust.

Chaparral is readily available in bulk. We sell it in one pound bags.

If someone is using Lasik, it is important to replace trace minerals and look for possible interactions between their supplements and Lasik. For instance, herbalists might try to keep the urine flowing using uva ursi or some diuretic formula, but these generally work slowly as compared to Lasik.

Coumadin is thinning as are most alkaloids in detoxifying formulas. So, if someone is taking an anticoagulant, caution is required when taking certain supplements. It's difficult to work within all these parameters and a bulletin board is scarcely the right place for detailed guidance. When people are mixing and matching therapies, they need to work closely with experienced practitioners.

Fabiola,

Yunnan Paiyao has become controversial. A company claims to have a monopoly and claims that the traditional producer cannot make this medicine any more. I find it confusing and, of course, have no idea whether the new product works. The old one was superb, but it came in a powder with one tiny pill in bottle.

The tumor probably bleeds because of auxiliary arteries feeding the tumor so that any scratching or motion breaks these arteries. If it were my dog, I would, of course, consult veterinarians and probably try some internal tonics in the hope that there is an opportunity to save Kismet's life or at least improve the quality.

Good luck!

Ingrid,

I have a horse who has shown to bleed in his lungs when stressed heavily. The Vet has suggested using lasix, but I would rather work with something like Yunnan Paiyao. What would you suggest I do? Also, would Yunnan Paiyao be helpful for ulcers in a horse? I have another horse who has been diagnosed with ulcers and the treatment they prescribe will cost around $800/month.

Thank you,

Steve

Steve,

I'm not sure about this but I just sent out a post today on Dragon's Blood for bleeding. I have also heard of herbalists who give calendula to race horses to help them after races. It would be best to start by figuring out what causes the bleeding and the ulcers. Feel free to write me privately.
