I had breast cancer 25 years ago and underwent a massive masectomy at that time. I followed an alternative medicine program following my surgery and was cancer free for 16 years. The cancer recurred on the site and I had a second lumpectomy and resumed alternative cancer treatment. Three years ago I stupidly let a doctor biopsy a lump on my chest. It was malignant, which I already knew. The biopsy would never heal and now the breast cancer is in my skin on my chest wall. The alternative program I am following does not appear to be effective in treating this problem, because the chest area is compromised due to the surgeries. Do you have anything that you would recommend for treating this problem? The site itself is a large open wound about the size of your hand. It discharges fluids that burn the surrounding skin and deteriorate clothing. I am pretty much immobilized by since it is very painful. THere are two smaller lumps close to the original biopsy that are opening up on their own. Please respond with any advice you can offer at your earliest convenience.

Maureen,

This sounds horrendous, very distressing. Obviously, you have been dealing with this for a long time so you have to be a well-informed patient. This said, nothing you wrote suggested that you have undertaken a thorough program of detoxification or immune enhancement. The odds are that these would at least alleviate some of the sensation of the discharges. The fact that the fluid burns not only your skin but your clothing suggests a fairly profound chemical imbalance that might very well respond to internal measures. In the meantime, there are relatively benign poultices that absorb discharges and tend to relieve the irritability around the site of the discharges.

You haven't mentioned where you live, but sometimes I know some pretty amazing practitioners who are within reasonable commuting distance. Getting some insight into what is going on may give you more idea of what strategies to pursue.

Clearly, you need to present, not try to manage this via this forum, but this is perhaps a start.

Blessings and good luck,

Dear Ingrid-

THank you for your reply, and I have been treating for the last 5 years with a Dr. in NYC, who has me on a detox and immune building program. My diet is limited to organic food, and mostly fruits and vegetables, fish and eggs. He does not have any expertise in the the salves or poultices relying mostly on internal healing. He feels that eventually this will heal, but in the meantime the site is sore, unsightly, in need of attention most of the day, and it is energy zapping. So, if something like a poultice like you mentioned would be helpful, and if you know of someone near me, I live in CT, please let me know. I prefer working with someone than on my own. If not, I will give whatever you say a try.

Maureen,

There are quite a few people who might be able to work with you on this. There is one in CT, another in NJ, and another on Long Island, but send me a private email using the contact form:

http://www.sacred-medicine.org/contact.html

This is a more discrete way to follow up and I'll see who might be closer to you.

Best wishes,
