Hello,

Last year I found a pea size growth on my chest above my left breast that started to grow large and turn black. A bio-energetic practitioner found Ductal Carcinoma in situ. I used the black salve and removed the tumor. Later bio-energetic tests showed the cancer was gone. I found a doctor who was willing to help me with the traditional blookwork and other type tests. All his tests have been great...until now.

It is now a year later and I had a thermogram done. The tests indicate probable maligant areas. I think one of them would be over the old black salve site. It was reccommended to me to have a fine-needle aspiration (biopsy) done along with a mamagram. This time around I am considering having them done. I am having lymph node pain. I know that that is not a good sign. I will also schedule another appointment with my practitioner.

My question is: What are your thoughts about fine-needle aspirations? I wanted to avoid this last time but now I really can't think of any reason not to do it. Does either the biopsy or the mammagram cause further growth or complications later. I have heard some things about the dangers of both, but I don't know if the information was accurate or just a scare technique. With your research into cancer, do you have any information for me?

Thanks,
Catie

Catie,

Oh, these are very personal choices that have to be weighed against the need to know and the risks involved. If you are asking for a personal comment, I would simply respond with yet another question: would the results influence your course of action or not? If, for instance, you ran additional tests and they were positive, would you follow the advice of the persons performing the tests or pursue some alternative method of treatment? What if the tests were negative or inconclusive? Would you then ignore the distress in the lymphatic glands? Would you be willing to try something to reduce the pain and wait three weeks before making a decision or do you feel an urgency to act? All of these questions are relevant but only you can answer them.
